The Death of Christ

Romans 5:8
Romans 5:8 reveals two foundational truths about Christ's death on the cross. First, Jesus' death was God's ultimate demonstration of love - not mere words or emotion, but genuine action on behalf of humanity's welfare. Second, Christ's death was a substitution for sinners, where Jesus bore the penalty we deserved for our rebellion against God. The timing is crucial: Jesus died for us while we were still sinners, not after we became good people. This makes God's love even more remarkable, as He sacrificed His Son for those in active rebellion against Him. The cross proves God's love beyond question and should motivate us to take sin seriously in our own lives.
