God’s Purposes in Sickness-Part 2 (10/12/25)
When illness strikes, believers often wonder if there’s any purpose behind their suffering. Scripture reveals that God can use sickness to accomplish divine purposes in our lives. First, illness can advance the Gospel by placing us in situations where we encounter people who need to hear about Jesus, just as Paul’s sickness led him to preach in Galatia. Second, God may use sickness to complete our earthly journey, as He did with the prophet Elisha. Finally, physical suffering can stir our longing for heaven, where there will be no more pain, death, or sickness. While we should always pray for healing, we can find peace knowing that God has sovereign purposes even in our suffering.
