God’s Purposes in Sickness-Part 1 (10/5/25)
God may use sickness to accomplish various divine purposes in our lives. First, illness can glorify God by creating opportunities for His power and love to be displayed, as seen in the blind man Jesus healed in John 9. Second, sickness can sometimes function as divine discipline, as illustrated by several biblical examples where physical affliction followed sin. Third, illness may test our faith, proving its authenticity as demonstrated in Job’s story. While Jesus cares deeply about our physical suffering, He came primarily to heal our spiritual condition—our hearts infected with sin. Through all suffering, we can trust that God is working for our good and His glory.
