Wednesday Nights are the primary time that we have our discipleship level classes. We recognize that students are both gifted and motivated differently. That is why every semester we have 5-6 different classes that students can participate in that can develop that intellectual and artistic expressions in discipleship. We meet upstairs in the “Big Youth Room” at 7:00-8:00. Here is what we will have offered Spring 2008:
Bible Study Methods - Darrell Halk ( 15 Students Max)
Based on the book Living by the Book by Howard Hendricks. This is open for students in 7-12 grades. Students will be given principles and procedures that will make their personal Bible study more fruitful and productive. They will be challenged to read more closely and probe more deeply, and will learn how to make key observations that will bring fresh application to your life.
The Master Plan of Evangelism - Doug Ammerman (10 students max)
This Class is based on the book The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert E. Coleman. It all started when Jesus called a few men to follow him and share God's message with their neighbors. We are called to do the same. But evangelism can be difficult - even intimidating. With all the evangelism resources available, where should you turn to find advice on how to share the Good News with others? Robert E. Coleman says the answers aren't found in TV evangelism, easy-evangelism guidebooks, or the latest marketing techniques. Rather, he looks to the Bible, to the ultimate example found in Jesus Christ. Join the movement and discover how you can minister to the people God brings into your life. This is open for students in 7-12 grade.
LBC Youth Book Review – unChristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks About Christianity... and Why it Matters - Tiffany Halk (10 Students Max) 6pm-7pm . This is open to students in 7-12 grade and College.
Study based on the Book by David Kinnaman, The Barna Group and Gabe Lyons, Fermi Project . Blurb: Do you want to reach the next generation for Christ? Ministry in America may never have been more confusing and complex - or have more opportunities. Yet, to connect young people to Jesus, you have to understand what they think and why. Based upon groundbreaking research among 16- to 29-year-olds, unChristian helps you understand their mindset, their skepticism and their experiences - as well as their points of spiritual openness. Readers will learn why negative perceptions exist among young people, how to reverse them in Christ like ways, and read about practical examples of how Christians can positively contribute to culture. You stand to be more effective in your ministry to the next generation by checking out unChristian.

Sunday Nights are huge for students at Lakeland! At 5:30 we meet in the Family Life Center for Youth Café’. For $2.50 you can get pizza, hamburgers, tacos . . . whatever it is that we are serving that night. You can’t eat at home for that! Right after that at 6:00 we go into Revolution. This is a challenging/fun/spiritual/surprise hour dedicated to students. We have praise and worship, games, creative worship experiences and great youth talks. Students are heavily involved in the hour. And oh yeah, a lot of adults hang out too (figure that one out). From there (usually around 7:15) we have SNAC— “Sunday Night After Church”. We go to the movies, bowl, go to homes, swimming . . . all kinds of things that allow our students to spend time together and have a blast. Parent pick up at the church is usually around 9:30.
